Bendigo Christian Fellowship

Preaching Christ… Making Disciples… Releasing Ministry…

Week commencing 26 February

In what was a landmark message on Sunday morning, Pastor Pauline began by drawing comments from the congregation on how people viewed the fellowship at present time. The overwhelming view was that there is a great sense of unity, vision and freedom. Pastor Pauline then impressed upon us how vital it is to maintain the wonderful positive environment we now have. In what she described as ?preventative medicine?, Pastor Pauline presented a message on preparing for a big catch, from Luke 5:1-11 and the importance of keeping the nets clean and mended. Following the analogy through, she spoke powerfully about the effect of three ?net rippers? ? gossip, the spirit of offence and unrealistic expectations.

The message was considered to be of such importance that Pastor Alan has offered to make available free CD?s on request from the church office.

On Sunday night we experienced a very powerful move of the Holy Spirit through our worship. We heard testimony of one of our people who had received an instantaneous healing after the morning meeting, then Pastor Alan spoke on healing, using as a basis the story of the healing of the woman with a spirit of infirmity as recorded in Luke 13:10-16. The message was followed by a powerful time of prayer for people to be released into the healing anointing.

Wednesday is Prayer Power day. Pastor Alan will be in the church building for prayer between the hours of 10.00 am and 6.00 pm. Anyone who wishes to join him, whether for a few minutes or a few hours would be most welcome.

This Sunday night there will be no meeting at Bendigo Christian Fellowship, as we will be supporting the City Wide Connections ? Churches Together meeting at the Vineyard Centre at 6.30 pm, for a time of worship, prayer and communion, in preparation for Easter Sunday ? Risen ?06 at Lake Weeroona, immediately after the fireworks.

World missions was again the theme on Sunday morning. Week commencing 12 February

Last Sunday morning, Pastor Alan continued the theme of world missions, with a message titled ?Learning to Give as God Gave?, based around 2Corinthians 8 and 9. Emphasising the principle of sacrificial giving, he showed us from the scriptures what we can expect as we willingly and gladly give our finances, time, energy, talents, possessions and ministry for the benefit of others.

In the evening meeting, Pastor Pauline shared from Hebrews 11:6 and challenged us to be people who apply and live by principles of faith.

This week in the Tuesday Bible Study, led by Pastor Alan, we looked at the chronology of the bible, giving an overview of its history and how the various books fit together. Next week we will be beginning a study on the covenants of the bible.

Week commencing 5 February

World missions and the fulfilment of the Great Commission was the theme last Sunday.

In the morning meeting, Pastor Alan shared a message titled ?Signs wonders and miracles ? why bother?? Basing his message around the last words of Jesus as recorded in of Matthew 28, Mark 16, Luke 24 and Acts 1, he showed us that the supernatural power of God is aligned to us reaching out with God?s love and fulfilling Christ?s command to preach the gospel and make disciples of all nations. He challenged us to understand that the Great Commission is not to be taken as applying only in the local sense, but should result in us being personally involved in bringing the word of God to other nations. He supplemented his message with a moving and inspirational powerpoint presentation on world missions, featuring the Planet Shakers song ?Here I am?.

In the evening meeting, there was a beautiful and powerful sense of God?s presence as the small gathering sang and flowed in free worship. A number of people were ministered to by the Holy Spirit as we stood together in His presence. Pastor Ray then shared an encouraging message from Mark 16, on going and preaching the gospel, challenging us particularly with the word ?go?.

This week the Tuesday Bible Study, led by Pastor Alan, gets under way at the church at 10.30am. For the next few weeks we will be looking at an overview of the Bible and how the sixty-six books fit together.

The various Home Fellowships have also commenced and details are available from the office.

Pastor Alan is planning to recommence the day of prayer in the church building on Wednesday of next week.

Sunday services are at 10.30am and 6.30pm at 194 Eaglehawk Road Long Gully. There are also midweek home fellowships and a bible study at the church on Tuesdays at 10.30am. All are welcome to any of these activities.
